May 2021
We spent a wonderful 2 weeks on the Sunshine Coast. The first week was with Stuart and Judy (Craig’s Dad and Step mum) at their new property in Buderim. It was so lovely doing yoga and meditating in the mornings by the little lake in their beautifully planted and manicured gardens. Mali also ensured we swam in the pool each day and play swim away from the creepy crawler. We went for coffee and walked the dogs with Judy and I took Stuart and his mate Keith for a little introduction to mountain biking on the 10km Ewan Maddock Mountain Bike Trail (around Ewan Maddock Dam in Beerwah State Forest). Craig was up at 5:30am most mornings to surf with the boys as the coast experienced a week of epic surf as he knew as soon as we travel a little further north there will no surf until we get around to WA. Oh, and we finally visited a maze!
I rode Parklands Mountain Bike Park and loved some of the single tracks. I'm getting used to riding alone and feeling great on the bike. Mali and I went to Australia Zoo and we saw Robert Irwin deliver the Croc show. Mali kept asking me if the man that died really build
this place. She loved the water park and the ice cream more than anything else, I think.
We also celebrated Craig's birthday and went out to the Mooloolaba Wharf for lunch and took him shopping for some new clothes. Malis also lost her second tooth eating ice cream! We were close to taking her to the dentist to get it pulled out as the adult tooth had already grown out behind it.
After living in a large room with en suite for a week we moved the van to Craig’s mate Tom’s house in Kawana. That day saw us, literally, sitting out on the road having a Friday afternoon drink with the neighbours. It turned into an all evening affair where half the road was blocked off with witches hats making it a single lane road. Mali loved hanging out with all the kids – she hadn’t had many kids to play with for a while. We cruised around Point Cartwright on the bikes and then had another BBQ catch-up with an old mate of Craig’s and his family. I enjoyed a few shuffles along the soft sand in an effort to increase my fitness and Craig and Tom went out to Old Woman (Mudjimba) Island on the jet ski to find some surf once the swell had died off.
It was an awesome few weeks. Thanks Judy and Stuart for having us (again) and thanks for all the wonderful meals Judy! Thanks, Tom, for allowing us to take over your front yard like a family of carnies.
We are off to Fraser Island next. Time to get some spectacular photos now.
See you on the other side!!
Corrine, Craig and Mali
